Anxiety help SOS

a guided meditation

You know those times where your mind becomes fixated on 'solving the problem', or preoccupied with 'finishing that thing' or 'getting it right'? My take on this is that something has activated anxiety in your system, and you're now trying (sometimes madly) to utilise this nervous energy and resolve it. The catch is, that the frantic activity that anxiety generates, leads to more anxiety. More mental busy-ness, more thoughts, more stress.

There are lots of ways to work with this state, such as writing down your experience, identifying a 'problem' (rather than worry) and problem solving it, some kind of exercise such as a walk or a run. Each of these can be helpful. However I find that they don't always allow that anxious feeling state to shift out of our body, it still kind of lingers and sometimes it becomes exacerbated by the activity we've chosen to engage with.

I've put together a guided meditation designed to help you come out of the state of anxiety and back to a centred place within yourself, grounded in your body. As part of this, I'll guide you through a visualisation to release the anxious energy out of your body.

There's a brief introduction (less than a minute) and then a 15 minute practice. You can put a sleep timer on within youtube, so that the video stops at the end (rather than automatically playing something else).

I hope this practice is helpful to you.

If you'd like to work with me, feel free to get in touch! I offer a brief phone call prior to booking your first session so we can get an sense of the therapeutic fit.
